Photo of Woodchuck

While Jenny and I were snacking on the season's first Black Locust blossoms before setting off to gather another supply of Eastern White Pine pollen cones, we noticed this Woodchuck (Marmota monax) enjoying some fresh greens in an open field. As we watched the rusty-chested mammal, a Northern Mockingbird chased off a vocal Fish Crow, and a Brown Thrasher flew out of dense shrubbery to survey the scene.
