A is incorrect. Adult male Northern Cardinals have red, not black, wings and tails.

B is Correct! Breeding male Scarlet Tanagers have bright red bodies with black wings and tails. Breeding females are yellow underneath, grayish above. Scarlet Tanagers breed in forests throughout the northeastern United States and are by far the most common Tanager in New England during spring and summer.

C is incorrect. Adult male Summer Tanagers are all red. While they are seen on occasion in New England, they are quite rare.

D is incorrect. Adult male Western Tanagers are largely yellow and black, with red heads. They are even more unlikely to be seen in New England than Summer Tanagers.
