Spring Foraging 5-Week Intensive

Photo of American Trout-lilyWhen: Sundays, 4/30, 5/7, 5/14, 5/21, & 5/28 from 3:30-5pm (with rain dates of 6/11 & 6/18)

Where: Various locations in/near Biddeford, Saco, and Kennebunkport.

What: This intensive is for adults looking to gain direct experience with wild plants. We'll focus primarily on identification of plants in the field, and cover foraging guidelines, tips, and preparation methods.

In each 90-minute session, we'll spend time with a small number of plant species (some of whom may be visited in more than one session) who have edible, medicinal and/or useful parts (those parts may or may not be at the optimal stage for harvesting). We'll visit a variety of habitats to ensure species diversity. Taste testing of some plants will occur, but we will not gather plants to bring home.

In order to get the most out of this 5-week experience, participants are strongly encouraged (but not required) to take notes during each outing, do follow-up journaling and research between sessions, and email Josh with questions.

What to Bring: Notebook, Newcomb's Wildflower Guide by Lawrence Newcomb, camera (optional), and all of your senses (essential)

Total Cost: $150. Limited to 8 participants. Payment (by cash, check, or Paypal) due in full by 4/26/17.
